Mark Wright says ‘I’m ready to be a dad’ as he admits to nerves ahead of birth of first baby with wife Michelle Keegan

MARK Wright opened up about becoming a first time dad on The One Show tonight.

The radio and TV star’s wife, Michelle Keegan, 37, is heavily pregnant with the couple’s first child.

Tonight, Mark, 38, appeared on The One Show and briefly spoke about the upcoming arrival of their firstborn.

He told hosts Lauren Laverne and Roman Kemp: “Very exciting times ahead, a little bit nerve-wracking. I’m ready.”

He then joked he’d let his fellow studio guests – Angela Rippon, Simone Ashley, and Sindhu Vee – come round and watch him try to assemble the baby’s crib – a notoriously tough test for any parent.

Just days ago, Mark and Michelle put on a brave face after four masked raiders broke into their £3.5 million mansion.

Actress Michelle showed off a glimpse of her bump in a white shirt as she cuddled up to Mark as they ventured out for a pub lunch.

The star has recently wrapped filming Brassic ahead of welcoming their first child, which is thought to be just weeks away.

The Sun told last week how the couple locked themselves in a bedroom when they heard a window smash and the alarm go off at their home.

It was understood four suspects were inside the property for around a minute but left when they heard Mark yelling.

Police were also alerted via the state-of-the-art security system, and arrived at the couple’s Essex mansion within minutes.

By then the gang, said to be wearing balaclavas and all dressed in black, had fled empty-handed in a getaway car.

Mark and Michelle, were said to be relieved but “very shaken up” by the ordeal.

A source told The Sun: “It was a traumatic experience for both of them but they are relieved that neither of them were injured.

“Mark did the sensible thing and stayed with his wife to make sure she was OK and they waited for police to arrive before leaving the room. It was a horrible thing to go through, particularly for someone who is heavily pregnant.

“They are understandably very shaken up by what happened.”

Mark and Michelle began building their dream home in 2020 — inspired by Hollywood properties and Georgian architecture — and it took two years to complete.

Experts said the villains could have been attracted to the house by the couple’s Instagram page, which details how they created their “dream home.”

The account, Wrightyhome, has 663,000 followers and has been viewed by millions.
