After the horrifying incident, Brendan was rushed to A&E to get a CT scan.

The Dubliner took to Instagram last night after he returned home from the hospital to give his fans an update on his condition.

Brendan jokingly said: “I had a CT scan, turns out I don’t have a brain, but everything’s fine.”

The popular presenter revealed his injury saying: “The only thing [the doctors] did discover is that they fractured my optimal floor, this bone here.

“It’s a fracture there from the kick in the face, b*****ds. But you can’t tell.”

Brendan reassured his fans that he’s okay saying: “I’m just jumping on to let everybody know that I’m fine because it exploded today and it was weird.

“I am fine and I’m not afraid of them.”

Brendan shared his appreciation for everyone’s support and said: “But really just to say every single message means the f***ing world to me.

“I am overwhelmed and grateful and thankful to be still here and being able to message you to say, thank you so much.

“Thank you so much if you took the time to message me today and get, I will get to everything, your message, watch me. I might be from the toilet, but I will message you back. Thank you.”

Speaking on RTE Radio 1’s Liveline later, Courtney recalled the attack in more detail yesterday before getting his CT scan.

He said: “I just remember it was a white car, I don’t know what kind of car it was. Three lads in it and one of them wound down the passenger window and said something to me and I just sort of said ‘hello’ or whatever back.

SHOCK ATTACK

“And next of all from behind, the driver and then the guy in the back jumped out and kicked me to the ground and punched me and kicked me in the head about five or six times.”

Courtney said while he was on the ground, he felt “a boot to the side of my head, a boot to the back of my head and a boot right in my face”.

Asked by presenter Joe Duffy if he thought the attackers recognised who he was, the TV presenter said: “I think so, yeah.”

“And I was just coming from a gig, so I was wearing particularly fancy clothes… I’m sure I looked particularly flamboyant but I was just going along, minding me own business.”

He said gardai have CCTV footage and he plans to meet with them to file a report.
