Hollywood’s highest earning stars revealed as huge name tops list & two comedians make top five

FORMER wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson smacked down his Hollywood rivals by becoming the highest-earning film star in 2024 — raking in $88million (£70million).

He made $50million (£40million) of it from a deal to produce, star in and market the critically panned Christmas action comedy Red One.

Dwayne, 52, was also paid megabucks to voice demigod Mauia again in Disney’s Moana 2.

He pipped Wrexham FC co-owner Ryan Reynolds, 48, who made $85million (£68million) as producer, co-writer and star of Deadpool & Wolverine.

According to Forbes list compilers, Reynolds produced adverts linked to the film through his marketing agency Maximum Effort to bank further millions.

Comedian Kevin Hart, 45, is in third with $81million (£64million).

Nicole Kidman, 57, was the highest-paid actress with $31million (£25million), enough to place her eighth on the list.

The only other women in the top 20 were Law & Order: SVU’s Mariska Hargitay — the highest paid star on TV — and Scarlett Johansson.

At 40, Johansson was the youngest name on the list.

It is believed the established stars are still raking in royalties from previous films and TV shows, so they are outperforming younger Hollywood names.

Jerry Seinfeld, 70, is in fourth with $60million (£48million) — half of which came from co-creating the 1990s sitcom Seinfeld.

Joaquin Phoenix, 50, was 20th with $19million (£15million) despite his film Joker: Folie a Deux being the year’s biggest box office disaster.
