RTE Late Late Show viewers were all left praising Ed Harris after his incredible interview.
The Hollywood star and his co-star Jessica Lange sat down with Patrick Kielty in the Dublin studio tonight.
The two icons were promoting their upcoming film, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, which premiered at the Dublin International Film Festival yesterday.
Ed explained how thrilled he was to be back saying: “It’s great. I love Ireland. I love its people. I love the land.
“I love the Guinness. So it’s really nice to be back.”
They shot the film in Dublin and Wicklow in 2022 and Ed said it was “a very intense few weeks” but also “really fun”.
Jessica told the story of how they ran into some trouble very early on in the project saying: “We get to the set that first day and we shoot and it’s a beautiful sunny day and it’s a wonderful scene we shoot.
“And the next day we show up and we start going into the works to get ready and we’re told that the film is shut down on our second day of shooting.”
When Patrick asked “why” that was, Ed replied: “Well, why do you think? The money fell out!”
The Apollo star added: “We were there for three weeks desperately trying to find someone to save our butts and bail us out. And finally, Bill Kenwright, the great theatre producer in London, he owed Jessica one.
“So he came through and saved us and then went back to work.”
The American Horror Story actress recalled some fond memories of their down time saying: “Well, three weeks where I mean, and credit to all of us and I think our commitment to these parts and to this play and to this film, none of us ever considered just packing up and going home and waiting for the word.
“We were here drinking a lot of Guinness and whiskey and making phone calls.”
Ed replied: “It was actually very beneficial in a way. Because Jessica and I and Ben Foster, particularly, we spent a lot of time together
“And we really got comfortable with one another. By the time we started filming we were all a family.”
When Patrick asked if it’s “harder” to be a screen actor and star in this day and age, Ed replied candidly: “I just skulk around. People don’t bother me. I have a hat.”

Jessica joked: “You wouldn’t approach him on the street!”
Ed added: “I just kind of hide out.”
The 74-year-old had the studio audience in stitches and viewers at home also loved watching the chat.
