The Undertaker: “Next thing I remember I’m in the hospital” Doesn’t Even Remember His 1st WrestleMania Loss

One of the major talking points of WrestleMania has always been the presence of The Undertaker. The superhuman streak of 21-0 until WrestleMania 30 always made the fans speculate what would happen if it ever got broken. The streak built over time for the Dead Man at the expense of several superstars that featured big names like Jimmy Snuka, Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, Roman Reigns, Edge, and the list goes on.

These famous rivalries were built up over the Road to WrestleMania, and the way the Undertaker reaped the rewards of these battles across the ages was simply mesmerizing. His clash against Kane in WrestleMania XX induced the paranormal element in WWE in a much more intimidating avatar, and his match with the Edge in WrestleMania XXIV for the World Heavyweight Championship witnessed the extreme fringe of resilience.

Taker’s stature as an icon of the sport established him amidst the wrestling gods of all time. Amidst all the laurels in the Showcase of Immortals, the Phenom suffered just a solitary blemish, and that was a defeat against Brock Lesnar.

What memories does the Undertaker has of WrestleMania XXX?

The Undertaker was made to bite the dust in WrestleMania XXX against the Beast Incarnate as the legendary streak was broken. The fans were stunned, and the entire wrestling world couldn’t stop talking about it. However, when the man himself opened up on the incident, all he could say was that there was hardly any recollection of the event.

The Phenom suffered a concussion from one of the Suplexes given by Brock Lesnar to him. During the landing, things might have gotten out of hand, and he looked visibly distraught. In a conversation on Six Feet Under with Mark Callaway, the Deadman opened up on the entire event and how until he reached the hospital, he barely remembered anything that unfurled.

The Undertaker said that he had a conversation with Michelle McCool and explained that he was hardly able to recall any event. In the hospital, it was Dr. Maroon who was in charge of his treatment, and he revealed to him about the concussion. The doctor also explained that it was more like Taker was being a lamp and someone unplugged the power.

I had a conversation with Michelle [McCool] and I told her what was going on, and then I have no further memories until the hospital. It’s crazy, what Dr. Maroon had told me. Because once I healed and then they [WWE] started trying to talk me into coming back the next year. He just said ‘it’s kind of like you’re a lamp and somebody unplugged the power’. Because they were shocked. I went to Pittsburgh and saw Dr. Maroon and another doctor who helped create the impact test.

Taker revealed that he didn’t really care about the upshot of the fight. What did bother him was the wish that wasn’t really concussed. That made him miss out on what was happening. He couldn’t even figure out if he was being sluggish or not. Instead of calling the match, on this particular occasion, Taker was waiting for Brock Lesnar to call him, which was contrary to his dominant nature.

Following his defeat against Brock Lesnar, Taker continued to make appearances in the WrestleMania, where he defeated the likes of Bray Wyatt, Shane McMahon, John Cena, and AJ Styles. Finally, he retired from WWE in 2020.

The Undertaker has been involved with WWE even after his retirement

In the last edition of WrestleMania, The Undertaker returned for a brief cameo where he aided Cody Rhodes in the main-event match-up against Roman Reigns. Off late, he has been seen on the screens as one of the mentors for LFG advocating for the upcoming talents. His praise for Shiloh Hill saw the youngster doing wonders on the show.

When it comes to wrestling, though, the lines are slightly blurry. He is not at the peak of his fitness for sure, but he can definitely make a cameo appearance. With WWE’s legend contracts in place, Taker’s cameo will somehow surround the main event but will that come or not, that remains a question mark, yet.

WWE has carved an impressive legacy around Undertaker, and as the years pass by, they will hope to have him alongside in whatsoever capacity they can. Taker’s overall stature makes him an indispensable name in the circuit, and him being a mentor would mean that WWE simply will have one of the brightest minds of all time to carve the path for the upcoming talent.
