WE’RE all looking for ways to save money in tight times like these.

And it can be especially tricky for parents hunting for ways to keep the kids entertained – especially if they’re constantly asking for new toys.

So one mum was understandably delighted when she came across the Play and Recycling Centre in her local town – where you can fill a trolley full of stuff for a fiver.

Lola explained that you have to pay a £10 annual membership to use the centre in Werburgh Street, Derby.

But once that’s paid, you can fill your trolley whenever you want – and only have to pay £5 each time.

She took to TikTok to share a look inside the recycling centre, as she was left amazed by the variety of things she could take home.

The first thing Lola came across was a box of random coloured pencils, which she took a few of, as well as a bucket of foil pieces.

There were plastic cups – perfect for crafting – a whole wall full of different ribbons, masks for the kids to colour in, posters and even a Furby book that her daughter spotted on the shelves.

If crafting is your scene, there were piles of foam, strips of denim and even iron on glue strips.

It’s perfect if you’re looking for school supplies, as there were also erasers on offer, as well as folders and notebooks.

But one of the most exciting parts of the centre was the room they had full of tins of paint.

While some of it was free, there were also huge tins for just £2 – a massive saving on paint you’d buy in a hardware store.

“Why is no one talking about this?!” Lola captioned her TikTok video.

She was immediately bombarded with people asking where it was, as another wrote: “£10 for a full trolley of stuff is insane!”

“You find the best places!” a third praised.

“I live round the corner and been many times,” someone else wrote.

“It’s always after new customers.

“It has struggled to keep going at times – not given enough praise.”

“Awww this is a lush idea!” another added.

“Bless them! But how do they make a profit?” someone else asked.

With Lola replying: “It’s all donated from people and companies that are no longer using it.”

And while the store is located in Derby, there are actually other “scrap stores”, run by local charities, all over the country.
