The most X-rated catwalk moments – from Bella Hadid’s shocking ‘spray on dress’ to infamous duct tape bikinis

WHILE fashion weeks are for showcasing collections, designers also love to shock – with models wearing as little of their clothing as possible.

American model Amelia Gray Hamlin is the latest to cause a catwalk commotion during Milan Fashion Week this month, when she showed off a sheer Cher-inspired jumpsuit.

The DSquared2 runway audience were left speechless at the 23-year-old – who was braless in her sequin embellished dress inspired by Cher’s Met Gala look in 1974.

Amelia has previously walked for brands such as Chanel, Givenchy, Versace and Vivienne Westwood and was praised by celeb friend Kylie Jenner on social media after her latest bold walk.

The fashion queen took over the runway alongside famous names like Naomi Campbell in the show, which was hosted by designers Dean and Dan Caten.

Kate Moss’s topless Magnum walk

Model Kate Moss has never been shy when it comes to stripping off for a runway.

But she caused quite a stir when she walked topless for Vivienne Westwood in 1993, while eating a Magnum ice cream.

The model wore only a tiny striped mini skirt and giant pink heels while she seductively strutted down the runway.

Her jaw-dropping look became one of the most iconic catwalks of all time.

Talking about the look recently she said: “It was a Magnum ice cream and they just said, ‘Eat that as you go out with no top on.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah I’ll try.’ I managed that. And those heels as well!”

Kate later revealed she was even scolded by her daughter Lila for her daring runway look.

Bella Hadid’s ‘spray on dress’

World famous celeb Bella Hadid left fans speechless at Paris Fashion Week after strutting down the runway topless, wearing only a skimpy thong in 2022.

She used her hands for cover before four designers spray painted a glamorous white dress onto her body.

The iconic catwalk model left little to the imagination as her kitten heel shoes were her only substantial item of clothing.

The painted on, barely-there dress even featured a sexy thigh-high split.

Duct tape bikinis

The ‘King of Tape’ fashion designer Joel Alvarez sparked a craze for minimalist swimwear designs which left models practically naked on the runway.

The catwalk stunners redefined “sex tape” after sauntering down the runway in just bikinis made out of black sticky tape.

The steamy outfits shocked audiences at both New York Fashion Week 2022 and Miami Fashion Week 2024.

Alvarez, who founded the Black Tape Project, explained his concept came abut during a photoshoot.

He said: “One day in 2008 I was a rookie photographer who was working with a model that suggested I use electrical tape on her for the last look.

“I honestly had no idea why she would want this but to make her happy I attempted to use this tape as wardrobe.

“Essentially I just wrapped her in black electrical tape! Mind you she looked like 2 Christmas hams wrapped in rubber bands when I was done!”

Crotch gowns

Fashion designer Rick Owens is famous for his runway shows that leave spectators not knowing where to look.

Male models had their full genitalia on display as cut-out crotch gowns covered very little on the runway during Paris Fashion Week 2015.

The X-rated sights shook up fashion fans and Rick was labelled as #d***owens on social media platform X.

Snake walk

The crazy looks later inspired a model in America to strut down the catwalk using only their hand to cover down below.

The full-frontal look was unveiled by designer MT Costello at the Art Hearts Fashion Show fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in 2015.

The blonde model, draped in a crocodile print cape, had a gold snake adorning his manhood.

Outraged broadcaster IMG halted the live broadcast and pulled the footage from the internet after the saucy stunt and designers were slammed for the “penis exploitation trend” initiated by Owens.
