Sylvester Stallone Responds to Dwayne Johnson Fighting Back Tears After Reliving His Father’s Greatest Memories

As we move towards the end of Black History month, a range of celebrities and superstars have already come out in celebration and remembrance. This includes WWE superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who came up with a heartwarming tribute to his late father, wrestling legend Rocky Johnson.

The heartfelt moment obviously drew reactions from a range of The Rock’s worldwide fans. However, it also brought forth a commendable message from none other than Sylvester Stallone.

Dwayne Johnson reminisced about his father’s strength and the profound impact he had on the wrestling world and beyond. The former WWE superstar-turned-Hollywood megastar acknowledged how his father, despite facing hardships, always appreciated recognition for his contributions:

My dad was a strong, tough guy, and hardened by all the different kinds of beatings life gave him, but I know he ALWAYS appreciated (and smiled!) receiving ‘his flowers’ for all the challenges he overcame and the road he paved for all of us of color, and all of us of ANY color.

Johnson then talked about missing his father, claiming that there were three life lessons that he always said to him, when he was a kid:

“I get emotional in moments like this because it’s the great reminder to always be as present as possible with your loved ones, because we just never know what’s around the corner and when, just like that — they’re gone.

My old man wasn’t a big “I love you” guy, but he would always say three things to me as a kid that always stuck with me.”

The three lessons were:

  • “A day without pain is like a day without sunshine.”
  • “Respect is given when it’s earned, so go out and earn it.”
  • “The show must go on.”

Regardless, The Rock will be delighted with the message, fellow Hollywood superstar Sylvester Stallone commented.

The real triumph in Rocky’s story is found in the fight itself, not the win.

Sylvester Stallone, a long-time friend and colleague of Johnson, was among the first to respond to the emotional tribute. The Rocky star, wrote the following in the comments section of the post:

That was a very, very touchy moment, and it’s moments like that that bring us back down to earth and make us cherish what life is really about. Heart and soul.

Needless to say, Rocky Johnson is not just remembered by his son, but by WWE fans all over the world. The first Black NWA Georgia Heavyweight Champion and a two-time NWA Television Champion, Johnson became the first Black WWE Tag Champion alongside Tony Atlas in 1983.

A trailblazer in his field, The Rock only built on the legacy set by his father, becoming a 10-time world champion, through his career.
