Ever since the Solo Leveling anime series started, fans have been in awe of Sung Jinwoo’s character as a protagonist. He has proven himself to be a great main character, but there are still a few things about him that fans have criticized since the first season of the series. Among those criticisms, the biggest one is about his lack of emotions in the story.
Sung Jinwoo is the ideal protagonist who is constantly working hard to become stronger, but in his journey, he has never shown his vulnerable side. In fact, in the manhwa, he has even committed some morally conflicting activities that have made fans question his character development in Solo Leveling.
However, it looks like this problem has been solved by the anime. According to the leaks of the upcoming Solo Leveling episode, Sung Jinwoo might finally show his emotions and prove all the allegations about him being an “emotionless monarch” wrong. If this happens, he will be back on track as the perfect main character, and the Solo Leveling anime will get even more fame and recognition.
Sung Jinwoo’s lack of emotions as a protagonist
When the Solo Leveling series started, Sung Jinwoo was portrayed as the weakest hunter in all of humanity, but he still had feelings and emotions towards other characters. Although he was shy, he never once felt afraid to express his emotions, and the perfect example of this was his initial bond with Lee Joohee, the B-Rank healer.
But as he got the system, he became more focused on his goal of becoming the strongest hunter and contributed all of his energy towards it. He stopped expressing himself as he got more involved in his own mission and battles, and all he could think of was the next step. This led to him showing little to no emotions at all, even at the most celebratory moments.
Not only that, but even the fundamentally conflicting steps that he had to take in the manhwa made him look even more invulnerable to emotions. While he did express concern and care for others, it was never seen on his face, which became one of the few criticisms fans had for his character development in Solo Leveling.
Solo Leveling anime might bring out Sung Jinwoo’s emotions
Solo Leveling fans have had complaints about Sung Jinwoo’s lack of emotions, and it looks like A-1 Pictures has decided to do something about these issues. This was seen in the leaks of the upcoming Solo Leveling episode, titled “It was All Worth It,” which is scheduled to be released on March 1st, 2025, on Crunchyroll.
According to the ongoing story, the episode will feature Sung Jinwoo finally getting the elixir of life and using it to bring his mother back.
As it is an emotional moment, the spoilers suggest that it will force Sung Jinwoo to finally bring out his emotions, and it will result in him crying his heart out after seeing his mother.
This will truly be one of the most wholesome moments of Solo Leveling, and the addition of Sung Jinwoo’s vulnerability will make it even more profound. Solo Leveling fans will only have to wait for the episode to be released to see their favorite protagonist cry and become vulnerable.
