The Los Angeles Lakers won their fourth straight game on Thursday night, picking up a 111-102 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Luka Doncic turned in another solid outing for his new team (21 points, 13 rebounds, five assists), but he and his team can’t enjoy their win for too long, because they have to prepare for the second night of a back-to-back that will see them face off against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Ever since acquiring him from the Dallas Mavericks in a stunning blockbuster trade, the Lakers have been cautious with Doncic, as he missed six weeks of action earlier this season due to a calf injury. Doncic’s minutes restriction has been lifted since returning from the All-Star break, but L.A. is still going to be careful when it comes to managing him. As a result, Doncic revealed after beating the Timberwolves that he’s questionable to play against the Clippers.
“Luka Doncic says he will be questionable for tomorrow’s game against the Clippers,” Dave McMenamin of ESPN shared in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

While there are some concerns about the Lakers roster after trading for Doncic (and then rescinding their trade with the Charlotte Hornets for Mark Williams), Los Angeles has now won four of their five games since the All-Star break. They are also doing so without Doncic playing up to his full potential, as this game against Minnesota was only the second time out of the six games he’s played for his new team in which he scored 20+ points.
Doncic is certainly shaking off some rust that naturally comes when you miss over a month due to an injury, and doing so while acclimating to a new team only makes things more difficult. It’s only a matter of time until he finds his footing, and if sitting out the second night of a back-to-back helps him, then that’s what Los Angeles is going to have him do. For now, though, Doncic remains questionable to play against the Clippers, making his status worth watching throughout Friday.
