Don’t be Surprised If You Don’t See Tom Hiddleston’s Loki in Avengers 5 & 6 When Robert Downey Jr Returns With Chaos

If you’re wondering what Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief is up to now that the final stages of the multiverse saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are right around the corner, you might as well brace yourselves for some disappointment even though it is only understandable to expect Loki to grace his presence in the lore.

This is because the franchise is keeping strictly tight-lipped about the God of Thunder’s adopted brother’s involvement in the saga. In fact, while fans can look forward to Robert Downey Jr. returning to the super-verse with chaos as Doctor Doom alongside multiple other characters, keeping their expectations low on Hiddleston’s return might as well be a good choice for now.

Will Tom Hiddleston’s Loki return in the final stages of the multiverse saga?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is already nearing the end of its multiverse saga as phase five will soon be over with the release of Thunderbolts* later this year. This would pave the way for the final phase – phase six – in the respective saga, which would first see the new Fantastic Four debut before it all leads to the multiversal war in Avengers 5 and 6.

That said, the expectations of seeing Loki in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars are only understandable, especially after the finale of the second (and currently, final) season of the character’s titular solo series established him as the ultra-powerful God of Stories. Not to mention the puzzles left behind that are yet to be solved.

However, fans might as well keep their expectations low. This is because even Tom Hiddleston himself can’t tell if he’ll be in those respective movies or not. Well, at least that’s the card he played when he was recently asked by a fan if he would be gracing his appearance in Doomsday and Secret Wars. Per @bestoftwh on X, his simple response was:

I don’t know.

But this response, of course, was coupled with the tiniest of the mischievous smiles from the actor that he subtly tried to hide, so fans can’t help but wonder if the finest prankster in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe is up to one of his iconic pranks again, for he is most certainly a lot better at keeping secrets and giving spoiler-free interviews than the other Tom in the franchise.

Tom Hiddleston’s response isn’t stopping fans from looking forward to his return

Currently being one of the most powerful characters in the entire MCU, it’s only inevitable that Hiddleston’s Loki returns to the screens as Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom wages war on the planet. This, along with the fact that the actor is used to not spilling the beans, is more than enough to have fans still rooting for his beloved character’s return.

That said, taking to X, here’s how they are reacting to Hiddleston’s response:

Well, Marvel fans, for one, have a history of being tricked into believing things that don’t end up happening, especially when it comes to characters returning, so it’s only fair that they expect Hiddleston to return, too. At the same time, as MJ emphasized in No Way Home, it’s better to expect disappointment because then you’ll never really be disappointed, so taking that approach might be a better choice.

Avengers: Doomsday is slated for a May 1, 2026, release while Secret Wars will be hitting the screens on May 7, 2027.
