In the world of anime and manga, there are very few characters who can be as manipulative and smart as Sosuke Aizen, one of the main villains of Bleach. His cunningness knew no bounds, and no matter what the situation was, he always had a trick up his sleeve that guaranteed his absolute victory in almost every situation in Bleach.

In fact, his plan to use the Hogyoku to kill the Soul King and end the Soul Society was absolutely perfect except for the fact that he underestimated Ichigo’s power in Bleach. Otherwise, he would have easily won against the Soul Society, and the story would have taken a completely different direction.
Also, Aizen’s perfection was also reflected in how he manipulated Grimmjow into helping Ichigo power up. While it has not been confirmed by Tite Kubo, the complexity of Aizen’s plan has helped fans speculate that his behavior towards Grimmjow motivated the Espada to challenge Ichigo. This forced Ichigo to become stronger, which was essentially for Aizen’s plan in Bleach.
Aizen wanted Ichigo to become stronger in Bleach
Sosuke Aizen’s personality as a sadistic manipulator was one of the main reasons why Bleach fans loved him so much. His plans had literally no plot holes, and the biggest victim of it was Kurosaki Ichigo indeed. Aizen planned every step of Ichigo’s life from the beginning, as he needed him for his ultimate goal within the story.
Aizen wanted Ichigo to become stronger because he already knew that Ichigo was a hybrid of Soul Reaper, Quincy, and Hollow and had immense power hidden within him. He wanted to see what Kurosaki Ichigo was capable of as a hybrid and what was the extent of his power and abilities in Bleach.

Once he found out about them, his goal was to absorb Ichigo’s abilities and use them through his Hogyoku to break his own limits and reach an unprecedented level of power. This power essentially would have been on the same level as that of the Soul King in Bleach. But Aizen was stopped at the final moment as he underestimated the true extent of Ichigo’s power.
Grimmjow never knew he was being manipulated
As mentioned above, in order to force Ichigo to unlock his full potential, Aizen planned every step that Ichigo took. Even his battles in Hueco Mundo to save Orihime were, in a way, planned by Aizen so that Ichigo could essentially understand what he was capable of. From Ichigo meeting Orihime to Ulquiorra forcing the Full Hollow Ichigo, everything had Aizen written all over it.

In fact, Ichigo’s battle with Grimmjow and Grimmjow forcing Ichigo to power up was all Aizen’s plan. The way Aizen treated Grimmjow and manipulated him into challenging Ichigo was something that Grimmjow couldn’t understand.
Even the Bleach fans thought that it was Grimmjow’s impulsive personality that motivated him to challenge Ichigo.
All of this proves that Sosuke Aizen’s master plan had no plot holes, and the respect that he earned over the years from Bleach fans was indeed deserving. Had he calculated the complete extent of Ichigo’s powers, he would have succeeded in achieving his goals, and no one would have been able to stop him.
Bleach is available to watch on Hulu.
