Actress Carrie Fisher is best known for playing the role of Princess Leia Organa in the Star Wars franchise. Fisher sadly passed away in 2016 before completing work in the sequel trilogy. However, before her passing, Fisher had documented her career, primarily her experiences while working on the space opera franchise, in her autobiography.
In an excerpt from her book, Fisher discussed attending a Star Wars party with the rest of her crew and castmates. However, the night almost took a dark and uncertain turn after Fisher was allegedly planned to be whisked away while she was drunk. Actor Carrie Fisher was cast as Princess Leia Organa for the first installment in 1977’s Star Wars, directed by George Lucas. For decades, Fisher remained synonymous with the character, achieving pop culture reverence. As a result, it is only natural that she spoke about her experience with the franchise in her 2016 autobiography The Princess Diarist.
In the book, Fisher revealed that she attended director George Lucas’ 32nd birthday party, shortly before the cast and crew began filming for the first movie. However, the actress admitted that she was the only girl at the party and was quickly coerced into drinking despite thinking it was a bad idea.
I don’t know when I became aware that quite a few members of a crew were organizing a kind of joke abduction of me … to get me out of the party and whisk me away to wherever movie crews take young actresses when they want to establish that the actress belongs to them.
Fisher wrote the above in her book (via NickiSwift), recalling the dangerous and scary experience as she was completely drunk by the point she realized what was going on.
Thankfully, Fisher’s co-star Harrison Ford also heard about the prank and quickly stepped in to protect her. The actress recalled Ford getting into a fight with the crew, rescuing her from the dark situation. Fisher also noted the incident as the genesis of her affair with Ford, which she also documented in her autobiography.

Fisher similarly documented her experience with the franchise in her other book, Wishful Drinking. While discussing the book in an interview with The Guardian, the actress discussed her work on the second installment, The Empire Strikes Back, which is arguably considered the best in the franchise.
We did cocaine on the set of [The] Empire [Strikes Back], in the ice planet. I didn’t even like coke that much. It was just a case of getting on whatever train I needed to take to get high.
Fisher made the above statement, admitting that her life was mostly marred by her issues with drugs.
However, the actress admitted that she soon realized that she was using drugs more than most people around her. Nonetheless, Fisher revealed that she partied a lot during the filming of the original trilogy. The actress sadly passed away in 2016 due to health-related issues. However, her legacy lives on in the form of her performance as Leia Organa.
