And he was asked about the betting odds for the next James Bond because actor Joe Cole of Peaky Blinders fame could land the role.
Darren Fletcher brought up the striking similarity on commentary with former Chelsea star Cole.
He joked: “I saw this morning if you get a second to ask him tonight that Joe Cole is 66/1 in the betting to be the next James Bond.”
Cole was happy to humour his colleague, and responded: “He’s been desperate to get me on that.
“Of course I know it’s another actor, but listen I think I should be shorter odds. Shaken not stirred.”
For now Cole is concentrating on his day job and would have been happy with the evening as his former side won 4-0.
Cole Palmer may not have been at the races, missing a hatful of chances, but Pedro Neto inspired the Blues to their first win in four matches.
Neto scored one and produced one as Christopher Nkunku, Levi Colwill and Marc Cucurella all scored.
