Hosted by Peter Serafinowicz, the premise follows recent successes like The Traitors and The Fortune Hotel.

It will see 12 contestants enter a lakeside estate – with each person having a mysterious box in their room.

Per the official logline: “Eleven of them are empty and one contains $1,000,000, and it’s for that guest to keep — as long as they keep their identity hidden.

“Devilish games will reveal clues about the millionaire’s identity, and they must do whatever it takes to keep their Million Dollar Secret.”

In a trailer, host Peter can be heard saying: “Imagine being invited here, finding a million dollars in your room, knowing it’s yours to keep, but only if you can hide the fact you’ve won the money.

“Getting the million dollars is easy, but how far would you be willing to go to keep it?”

As revealed by Peter, one challenge sees the line-up “fly by helicopter to an entry place where you will find the right ice for my drink” — and learning the undisclosed location is a glacier.

Meanwhile, The Fortune Hotel became a huge hit upon debuting on ITV last year.

The strategic guessing game similarly brings a group of contestants – although in pairs – to a luxury location.

Each were assigned a briefcase, with one of them containing £250,000.

Meanwhile, all of the other cases were completely empty – and the pair holding the money case had to keep their secret.

In the end, mother and son duo Jo-Ann and Will went on to win the jackpot.

It was later confirmed that The Fortune Hotel will be returning for a second series.

Early in the first episode, some viewers branded the show a ‘disappointing’ copy of The Traitors before giving it a chance.

Flooding social media with comments, one said: “Thought I’d give #TheFortuneHotel a go and I’ve turned it off already.

Reality TV salaries revealed

Towie:

Cast members are put into four pay bands based on their popularity.

Reality veterans Bobby NorrisJames ‘Diags’ BennewithGeorgia Kousoulou, and Chloe Sims were in the top tier, which meant they commanded £450 an episode.

Others were paid £350, £250 or £90 if they were a newcomer trying to prove their worth.

Geordie Shore:

The MTV show reportedly paid cast members £1,000-a-month for their wild antics in the early days of the show.

Veteran Sophie Kasaei revealed the cast had to work other jobs to supplement their income.

She said: “When we first started the show we got absolutely nothing.

“The most we ever got was £1000 a month and we couldn’t survive on that, obviously after tax as well.

“Most of us worked at the call centre because in Newcastle there’s a lot of call centres because we can sell you the dream, we’re very friendly and warm and trustworthy.

Gogglebox:

Each household is paid the same monthly allowance of £1,500.

A show insider revealed the fee is then split amongst contributors at their own discretion.

They also get to tuck into a free takeaway of their choice twice a week to keep them fuelled during long filming sessions.

The armchair critics have to watch 12 hours of telly a week in total – which is divided into two six-hour stints.

I’m A Celebrity:

The jungle show is a jewel in ITV’s crown with a bumper budget to boot. Payments are tailored to the individual, with the greater their fame or controversy factor, the bigger the cheque.

Nigel Farage reportedly bagged £1.5m for the last series – the most in its history.

While eventual series winner Sam Thompson was a snip at £80,000. This Morning’s Josie Gibson is said to have pocketed £100k while Britney’s sister Jamie Lynn received an impressive £250k.

“It’s like a cr*p Traitors knock off with the sort of contestants that you’d find on that awful trash that is Love Island.”

A second fumed: “Sorry but you’ve lost my respect you’re not original and just a copy cat of The Traitors which will ALWAYS be better. Yawn. Boring. Try better.”

“Well it’s just The Traitors with less clothes and weirder people right,” said a third.

While a fourth commented: “If the attempt at competing with The Traitors wasn’t so abysmal, I think the BBC would be sueing ITV.”
