The five-year-old was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise but was pronounced dead a short time later, while a woman in her 40s, who was driving the car involved in the collision, was not injured.

Aaron was a junior infants pupil in the Educate Together school in Portlaoise and the son of Tauqir Hussain, who is involved in a local barber shop, and Irina Novikova who runs a beauty studio.

The family have been living in the area several years.

Ahead of his funeral, which is understood to be on Friday February 28, Irina has paid tribute to her “little Aaron” and thanked those who have been supporting the family through this “unimaginable time”.

Irina wrote: “Our hearts are shattered, but we are overwhelmed by the love and support from all of you.

“We cannot express how much it means to us during this unimaginable time.

“It’s hard to believe how many lives our little Aaron touched in his five beautiful years.

“He was a child full of joy, kindness, and a heart bigger than words can describe.

“Though we are unable to respond to each of you, please know we see and feel your love.

“Thank you for holding us in your hearts as we try to navigate this heartbreaking reality.”

Friends rushed to comfort the grieving mother, paying their own tributes to Aaron.

One person said: “He was a beautiful angel always smiling.”

Another wrote: “A beautiful boy, always so kind.”

The salon worker confirmed on Sunday that she was cancelling all of her appointments until further notice.

‘HEARTBREAKING LOSS’

She said said: “With deep sorrow, we share the heartbreaking loss of our little son, Aaron.

“Due to this, all appointments are canceled until further notice.

“Thank you for your understanding. Rest in peace our little angel.”

Family friend, businessman and former local election candidate Naeem Iqbal also paid tribute to the young boy.

He said: “Aaron Hussain died after [being] hit by a car in Kilminchy area, Portlaoise. An Garda Siochana Laois/Offaly is working on the case.

“We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Aaron Hussain. May Allah (SWT) give patience and strength to his family during this difficult time.
