Baldwin might get in trouble for the remarks he made, but some might say they were justified. So let’s look at how the incident unfolded, and why it was so triggering for the actor.

The unsettling interaction began when a Donald Trump impersonator approached Alec Baldwin and began to taunt him with many insensitive remarks. They were specifically about the Rust shooting incident, which led to the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Alec, it’s your favorite president. Look, I will offer you a total pardon cause I want to be friends, right? I wanna be friends. I will give you a total pardon for murdering that woman if you kiss the ring.

Look, Alex, if you don’t want that pardon for murdering that woman in cold blood, you can call it first degree, you can call it whatever you want but it was not good. She’s looking down on me, right now, smiling, happy. Thank you for confronting the man who took me out, who killed me.

The impersonator also mocked Baldwin’s Trump impersonations on Saturday Night Live and kept pushing on the delicate subject matter of Hutchins’ demise. His motive behind the action remains unknown, but it seemed like he was trying to provoke the actor.

At the beginning of the video, Alec Baldwin seems to be busy unloading luggage from a car. The impersonator rambles on and on while the actor ignores him. But then Baldwin was visibly angered, which made him respond with a chilling threat, that could possibly result in more legal entanglements.

Now, let me ask you a question. Now you realize, by the way, I want you to look at me. You got a camera on me here? Do you realize, my kids live in this building?

If this camera wasn’t here, I’d snap your f*cking neck in half and break your f*cking neck. I’ll take that camera and shove it up your a**.

The video has quickly gone viral and has reignited discussions about Baldwin’s temperament, and the mental toll that the Rust shooting incident has taken on him for years. Despite being cleared of the criminal charges due to prosecutorial misconduct, it seems the case will continue to haunt the actor for years (via CBS News).

Hutchins’ death still remains one of the most devastating incidents in Hollywood’s history. On the day of the tragedy, Baldwin was rehearsing a scene when a prop gun discharged and killed the cinematographer. The actor maintains that he never pulled the trigger and had no knowledge of live ammunition on set.

He’s doing his best to move past it, but the recent incident with the Trump impersonator is a stark reminder that Baldwin might have to always face the echoes of the tragedy, outside the courtroom.
