In the first episode of season three of The White Lotus, we got a lay of the land with our characters and our resort in Thailand. Although little was revealed, we discovered Timothy Ratliff could be in trouble back home. This week, we learn more about what is happening with Timothy, an armed robbery, and our three ladies rekindling past friendships that aren’t as close as we thought. We share everything that happened in the second episode of The White Lotus.
The White Lotus Season 3 Ep 2 Recap & Spoiler Review
We picked up right where we left off, with Jaclyn and Katie talking about Laurie, who we found out had gotten a divorce and had to pay alimony to her ex. Her personal life has gone downhill, with her daughter not doing well in school and not getting a big job promotion.
As the Ratliff family eats breakfast, Katie recognizes Victoria from a baby shower they had for their friend Claire. Victoria plays it off a little, pretending not to remember the meeting, while Katie is annoyed by it. She tells Jaclyn and Laurie that they spent an entire weekend together and doesn’t get how she doesn’t remember her.
What does Gaitok tell Mook?
In episode one, we meet Gaitok and Mook outside the resort. Gaitok is a security guard at the resort, while Mook is one of the health mentors at The White Lotus. You can tell he is quite smitten by her, and he finally gathers the courage to sit her down and talk to her about how he feels about her. Regardless of their family history, Mook doesn’t seem to like Gaitok the same way that he likes her. She plays it off and changes the subject, which Gaitok takes on the chin and continues eating.
What happens at the White Lotus resort?
Chelsea goes shopping with her new friend. Outside the store, a stranger distracts Gaitok, and we see a masked man pull up to the store in an SUV, pop out of the car and go inside and rob the store. As he was getting back into his vehicle, Gaitok attempted to stop him, but the masked man hit him over the head with his gun and fleas.
A noticeable trend between Jaclyn, Laurie, and Katie is that when one of them is missing, the other two begin to talk about the lives of the person who is not there. This time, Laurie and Katie are talking about Jaclyn and how they don’t think things are as good as she claims. Jaclyn overhears them talking, and it hurts her feelings.
The White Lotus Season 3 Episode 2 Ending Explained – Why is the Wall Street Journal calling Timothy?
Kenny finally calls Timothy back but informs him that twenty FBI agents have raided his house. He tells him that someone in the company ratted him out to the press, leading to their getting everything. Timothy asks if he is implicated, and Kenny reveals that he called him on a burner phone to tell him he is in trouble and needs to hire a good lawyer like he did. A frustrated Timothy tells him that if he gets screwed in the situation, he will kill him.
The second episode of The White Lotus thrives because Mike White balances the character’s screen time. A LOT is happening at the resort, with many moving pieces, but I expect it to intertwine as each episode unfolds. Jason Isaacs has been incredible so far, and I expect plenty of great scenes to come as we unpack more of what is happening with Timothy. I am heavily invested and can’t wait to see what episode three has in store for us next week.
