With player counts constantly diminishing day by day, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is kind of in a bad condition right now, and the game’s battle royale parallel is in an even worse state.

It is currently riddled with hackers and harbors one of the most toxic fanbases in the entire gaming industry. Although the multiplayer battle royale published by Activision was made to bring COD back to relevancy, recently the game has even failed to do that.
But a tweet from Call of Duty‘s official X (formerly Twitter) page, has confirmed the comeback of an old map from Modern Warfare 3 which might give players a whiff of nostalgia. Of course, we are talking about Verdansk.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will probably return with Verdansk

Verdansk has been a fan-favorite map since its release back in March of 2020 but it was later removed because of Caldera, a new map that became the main battle arena for Warzone. However, the introduction of Caldera has been a huge miss with the players and they did not resonate with the map as well as they did with Verdansk. This led the majority of the community to ask for Verdansk’s return and Activision finally listened.
In a post from August 2024, Call of Duty on their X page confirmed that the Verdansk will officially be coming back sometime during 2025. Players of the game were ecstatic after hearing the news of the map’s return and are still excited to see what changes will Activision bring to it. A trustable leaker who goes by the name of @TheGhostOfHope has recently speculated about some of the exclusive details that will return with the map.

The leaker stated that the map will be similar to its original state from 2020 and that it will be launched with Season 3 of Black Ops 6. He also mentioned speculated other minor changes like the train station’s interior and the roof of the stadium will be closed to the players.
There also won’t be any fast-travel subway system on the map as the feature was removed from Warzone back when Caldera was released.
These anticipated map changes might ruin the game for veterans

While a large number of fans are excited about the map’s return, these potential map changes and other changes in the game have left players concerned regarding its experience. With the massive gameplay changes in implemented in Black Ops 6, players are worried that Verdansk just won’t feel the same as it did back when it was initially released.
Although the release date for the map is still unannounced, the return of the original Verdansk is bound to draw in a wave of veteran players who left the game because of its toxicity and rampant hacking problem. The rerelease of the map could not only reignite interest in Black Ops 6 but will also boost the currently diminishing excitement for the multiplayer as well.
