Reports in the local media indicate that the Western Regional Police command has raided an illegal mining enclave in the Avelebo and Akango in the Evalue Ajomoro-Gwira District of the western region.
The team is said to have seized 10 excavators, which will be used as evidence to prosecute the perpetrators of illegal mining.
As a result of the raid, seven foreign nationals have been arrested.
Also, 8 Ghanaians were arrested in the swoop.
Erastus Asare Donkor, who is a leading voice on illegal mining in Ghana, made this known in an update he provided via social media.

The illegal miners have taken over the evalue jomoro enclave mining illegally and polluting the Ankobra.
Authorities say the excavators and other seized equipment will be used as evidence to prosecute them.
