On Saturday evening, Luka Doncic had his first great game as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers during the team’s surprising road demolition of the Denver Nuggets in a nationally televised affair. Doncic crossed not only the 20-point threshold but also the 30-point threshold for the first time in a Lakers jersey, and Los Angeles was able to build on their road win against the Portland Trail Blazers Thursday.
One person who has been impressed with what he’s seen from Doncic throughout his career is NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson, who recently took to The Big Podcast with Shaq to make an interesting analogy about Doncic’s game.
“I don’t want nobody to take this the wrong way… he plays like a Black guy,” said Iverson, via Ballislife.com on X, formerly Twitter. “He’s got swag. He’s so cool out there. I mean, everything’s just slow, just major moves, and the wet ball. I mean, he shoots the blood out of that thing.”

Luka Doncic had gotten off to a bit of a slow start to his Lakers tenure after the shocking trade that sent him from the Dallas Mavericks to arguably the NBA’s most historic franchise.
However, none of that rust was evident on Saturday night, as Doncic had his way with the Nuggets’ defense from essentially the opening tip, knocking down a barrage of contested threes as well as finding LeBron James cutting down the court in transition on more than one occasion.
The game offered a glimpse of what the Lakers hope to see for the rest of this season and into the playoffs, when they figure to have as good a chance of anyone not named the Oklahoma City Thunder to come out of the Western Conference.
The Lakers still have some problems to sort out in the front court, and it’s unlikely that they’ll be as hot from three as they were on Saturday every night. However, it had to be an encouraging signs for Los Angeles fans to watch their team demolish the Nuggets.
