Named “Convoy of Steadfastness,” this initiative seeks to bypass Israel’s blockade and provide relief to Gaza’s starving population through the Rafah crossing.

Inspired by the detained Madleen aid ship, which carried 12 volunteers including Greta Thunberg before being seized by Israeli forces, this convoy represents a unified stand against restrictions on Gaza aid.

Madleen’s crew faced detention, with four, including Thunberg, choosing to return home, while others remain in Israeli custody. Despite this setback, their protest has ignited global support, now echoing through this new mission.

The convoy, organized by Tunisian humanitarian groups, includes 1500 Tunisian and 250 Algerian citizens. Volunteers plan to stop in Libya and Egypt to rally support for Palestinian rights and highlight Gaza’s plight. A large medical team will provide urgent care to Gaza’s hospitals, while lawyers advocate for justice.

Chanting slogans to drumbeats, participants expressed solidarity with Palestinians, emphasizing that Gaza’s suffering is not distant. “This march protests Israel’s blockade,” said a volunteer. “We’ll show the world Palestinians deserve aid and rights.”

Israel’s seizure of the Madleen ship sparked worldwide criticism, amplifying calls for unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza. The convoy aims to build on this momentum, fostering global participation in the fight for Palestinian justice.
